It is the largest Italian-style theatre in Tuscany. Inaugurated on 10 September 1854, it has retained its main characteristics intact over the years, namely that of being a large popular theatre in the city centre, open to all kinds of performances. Since January 1998, it has been owned by the ORT Foundation, the venue for rehearsals and concerts by the Orchestra della Toscana. Since then, the Verdi has welcomed classical music with world-renowned conductors and musicians, continuing to this day, following a thread that has never been broken andthat links the history of the theatre to the history of Florence. Thanks to the Antico Teatro Pagliano company, which curates the theatre season, and PRG, which organises pop and rock music, the Verdi still offers a very varied programme in terms of quality, genres and number of events.
