Home to a dynamic academic and scientific community with global recognition, the city continues to shape innovation and discovery. At the Convention Bureau of Fondazione Destination Florence, we are committed to enhancing this intellectual capital by building partnerships between institutions, the University of Florence and key sector experts.
Guided by the City’s Advisory Board and initiatives such as the Florence Academic Leadership Program, our mission is to provide consistent, hands-on support to these brilliant minds, helping attract high-level international events and reinforcing Florence’s role as a global hub of knowledge and research.
Launched in 2015, the Florence Ambassador Leadership Programme (FALP) has been created to increase the number of international conferences choosing Florence as their host city. The programme offers expert support throughout the bid process, helping secure prestigious events for the destination, to Florence’s Ambassadors: scientists, academics, professors and researchers, who are the true drivers of the city’s international reputation and cultural prestige.
Download the Florence Ambassador Leadership ProgrammeFounded in 2022 and chaired by the Mayor of Florence, the Advisory Board is a select group of prominent Florentine leaders and high-level local stakeholders. It serves as a key point of reference and mentorship for current and prospective Ambassadors, particularly among emerging talent within the academic and scientific community. Its mission is to act as Florence’s leading advocates, offering the members’ expertise to support the FALP and helping to increase both the number and calibre of international events hosted in the city.

Born from the destination’s ambition and the strategic vision of Destination Florence Convention Bureau, the Florence Association Centre (FAC) is the first initiative of its kind in Italy. It supports international associations looking to establish a base in Florence as a gateway to Italy and Europe, with the primary goal of hosting their events in the city.
